The Spirit Knows
1 John 4:12-14 No man hath seen God at
any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is
perfected in us. (13) Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us,
because he hath given us of his Spirit. (14) And we have seen and do
testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. (KJV)
If no man has seen God and been able to
comprehend His realm, then why do so many people think that mankind has the
answer for them? The word ‘know’ means to understand or perceive; and as we
see again in verse 13, that it can only happen by His Spirit. If you desire
a closer more intimate relationship with the Lord then you will have to
stay in the realm of the Spirit as well, seeking more the wisdom from above
and not relying on something below or inferior.
1 John 3:22-24 And whatsoever we ask, we
receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that
are pleasing in his sight. (23) And this is his commandment, That we should
believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he
gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in
him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit
which he hath given us. (KJV)
All this week we have been looking at the
word ‘know’, and as we see again it involves Christ and His Spirit.
Basically speaking, you will find as you go through the Word of God that
you cannot have one without the other. So if you desire to know God and
eliminate the guesswork, or any doubt or fear, then it can only be
accomplished through His Son and a working knowledge of who you are in
Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:9-12 But as it is
written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart
of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (10) But
God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God. (11) For what man knoweth the things
of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God
knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. (12) Now we have received, not the
spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God. (KJV)
Again we see the answer God has for
mankind is not available through their carnal thinking, but rather it takes
His Spirit to enlighten us to the things of His realm. Are you looking to the
God’s realm to find your answer, knowing for yourself, or are you still guessing
and hoping that you are on the right path? The Spirit of God knows what we
have need of, are you allowing His Spirit to bear witness to your spirit so
that you can know also? The things of God are there for the taking, a free
gift that will last for eternity for any and all who would seek it out for
themselves.
1 Corinthians 2:13-14 Which things also
we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy
Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (14) But the natural
man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness
unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
(KJV)
You are not going to find a better
teacher than the Holy Ghost Himself, who takes the things of God and
compares Spiritual things with Spiritual people, which is another way of
describing a parable. Many people don’t receive the things of God because
God does not operate according to their thinking, in their timeline, or
what they perceive as blessings. For many the things of God are foolish,
because they limit God to outward manifestations rather than looking
inwardly to see the new creation in Christ that is and should be developing
daily.
John 16:12-14 I have yet many things to
say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. (13) Howbeit when he, the Spirit
of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak
of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will
shew you things to come. (14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of
mine, and shall shew it unto you. (KJV)
Again, we see that the Spirit and only
the Spirit of God knows the things of His realm, while anything or anyone
else is misleading. The whole reason and purpose that the Son was sent on
our behalf was so that we would allow this same Spirit to lead and guide us
on the only path that leads to eternal life. Are you getting your
instructions personally, first hand from the Spirit so that you can know
these things for yourself? If not, then who did you think knew better?
Matthew 11:25-28 At that time Jesus
answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast
revealed them unto babes. (26) Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in
thy sight. (27) All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man
knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save
the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (28) Come unto me,
all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (KJV)
The Spirit knows, and so do all those
that give ear to this Spirit that was sent for our benefit.
