Unheard Of
1 Peter 3:10-12 For he that will love
life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips
that they speak no guile: (11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him
seek peace, and ensue it. (12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the
righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the
Lord is against them that do evil. (KJV)
Did you know there are some prayers our
Lord gives ear to, and others He won’t? The key is the word ‘righteous’,
those that are in good standing and right with our Lord, those whose first
thought and motive is to seek the Lord’s take on any and all their
decisions, and then let His peace guide them in their walk.
James 4:3-6 Ye ask, and receive not, because
ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (4) Ye adulterers and
adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with
God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
(5) Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth
in us lusteth to envy? (6) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith,
God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. (KJV)
You know that request you made to our
Lord, that thing you thought would bring you closer to Him and give you
peace? Well, it didn’t get answered or even heard because it was requested
for the wrong reason. Those that are of this world are referred to as
adulterers, those that say one thing but do another. We have all seen and
heard people pray and seek things that were more carnal in nature and not Spiritual;
you know, like all those phony hundredfold return sermons we have heard on
TV? When God resists someone, it means He is opposed to their requests
because they have come in opposition to His Word, seeking more the things
of this life rather than the things of the eternal one. So if you didn’t
get the answer you were looking for, and were not confident in what you
requested, most likely it was because you were requesting it for the wrong
reason.
John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth
not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him
he heareth. (KJV)
Do you wonder why you don’t have
confidence when you pray? Just maybe that thing you are praying for and
hanging onto is something you need to discard and let go of. As we see
again, it is not just the hearers of the Word that are justified in the
Lord’s sight, but it takes one to be a doer as well; a true worshiper who
knows how to worship our Lord in Spirit, and especially according to truth.
John 11:41-43 Then they took away the
stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes,
and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. (42) And I knew
that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I
said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. (43) And when he
thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. (KJV)
Wouldn’t you like to have this same
confidence in your prayers, knowing and not just guessing our Father hears
them always? In fact, by knowing God hears your prayers, and by speaking
His Word, it will bring life to those around you as well. Not only was this
man Lazarus brought back from the dead, but this request and demonstration
of our Lord brought life to many others that were there standing and
watching what took place. Do you desire to have this confidence? Then you
need to be seeking the approval of your Father as well, so that you can
walk in the new life He intended for you to walk in.
Proverbs 15:28-29 The heart of the
righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil
things. (29) The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of
the righteous. (KJV)
Have you taken the time to study to show
yourself approved unto God, or are you trying to memorize scriptures to
impress people? In order for one to be righteous and in good standing with
God it has to come from a pure motive, like our Lord said ‘blessed are they
that are pure in heart’, because they are the only ones that will see God
and know they are one of His. You know, it is a lot harder to hear someone
the farther away they are; however, if you are willing to draw near to God,
then He draws near to you so that you can hear His answer to your prayers.
Are you seeking the Lord for the right reason and motive so that you will
be prepared to let Him speak through you and give His answer, or are you
following someone else’s man-made script that they think draws them near to
Him?
Proverbs 15:5-8 A fool despiseth his
father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. (6) In the
house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked
is trouble. (7) The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of
the foolish doeth not so. (8) The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination
to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. (KJV)
The reason many people are not confident
in their prayer requests is because they haven’t answered the Lord’s
request in where He would have them operate in His body of believers, thus
the term fool. If our Lord is not delighting in your prayer then it would be
obvious to say you are not in a place that is pleasing to Him; but rather
you are seeking things that are not healthy to your Spiritual walk, which
is described as an abomination.
Proverbs 28:9-10 He that turneth away his
ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. (10) Whoso
causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself
into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession. (KJV)
You know that verse that says with what
measure we give out is what comes back our way? Yeah, it’s true. Sometimes
people think that God plays favorites, or only answers certain special
people who pray in a certain special way. The truth be known Church, God is
no respecter of people, but is willing that none should perish but that all
should come to repentance and a working knowledge of who they are in Christ.
To sum it up, if you don’t like what is coming your way you need to look at
what you are sending the Lord’s way; because if you turn a deaf ear to Him
then you can expect your prayer requests to be unheard, until you turn and
give ear to Him.
