A Name Given From Above
1 Peter 3:10-12 For he that will love
life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips
that they speak no guile: (11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him
seek peace, and ensue it. (12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the
righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the
Lord is against them that do evil. (KJV)
The biggest thing that allows us access
to the throne of God, and allows our prayers to be heard, is knowing the
name that allows you in. Isn’t it rude of people that keep forgetting your
name because they were not paying attention when you told them, or they were
not really interested in who you really are, and you end up having to tell
them over and over again what your name is? Would this same principle not
be offensive to Our Father in heaven also, having sent His Son to reveal
the name that allows us access to His throne, and then to see many who
don’t know it or use it properly?
Acts 4:9-12 If we this day be examined of
the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; (10)
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead,
even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the
stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of
the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)
There are many spiritually impotent
people that could be made whole themselves also if they knew the name that
was given to us for our benefit to make us whole. There are a lot of
builders trying to build their church without the head piece, the corner
stone that fits the whole building together and makes it complete. In fact,
there is no other name that can be used that will get us access to the
throne of God but that one name He gave us, and that complete name is Jesus
Christ which makes us complete as well.
John 14:13-15 And whatsoever ye shall ask
in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (14)
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (15) If ye love me,
keep my commandments. (KJV)
What’s in a name? Well, actually a lot if
one desires for their prayer requests to be heard and to know they are
answered. You need to know the name that was given from above, so that the one
that sent Him from above will respond. It’s a done deal in heaven if you
loose it here on earth; so knowing the proper, the whole name, is vital in
your knowing that your prayer is being heard and answered as well.
1 John 3:22-24 And whatsoever we ask, we
receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that
are pleasing in his sight. (23) And this is his commandment, That we should
believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he
gave us commandment. (24) And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in
him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit
which he hath given us. (KJV)
The writer John summed it up quite well,
not only the name but the commandment that we need to follow in order to
stay in good standing with our Father, and dwell or abide in Him. Jesus is
a name, but Church, so is Christ, because, of these two were made one new
man who is now seated at the right hand of the Father. Don’t be deceived by
those that claim Christ is just a title, because folks, nothing could be
farther from the truth. Why people just pray in the name of Jesus and leave
out Christ; well, let me put it to you this way, if you leave His name out
of your prayers and teachings you may face the same consequence some day
when He goes looking for your name in His book of life. Are you willing to
take that risk?
Mark 9:41-42 For whosoever shall give you
a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I
say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. (42) And whosoever shall offend
one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a
millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. (KJV)
You know, if we serve a God who cannot
lie, then it would be safe to say that He sent us a Son that wouldn’t lie
to us either. Now if this man said that His name is Christ, and that those
that knew His name would not lose their reward in Him, then it would be
safe to say that those that use the name given from above, Jesus Christ,
would have their prayers heard also.
John 4:23-26 But the hour cometh, and now
is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in
truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God is a Spirit:
and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (25) The
woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ:
when he is come, he will tell us all things. (26) Jesus saith unto her, I
that speak unto thee am he. (KJV)
So let’s see here, we have been given a
commandment what name to use; we have been encouraged to use the complete
name; and once again we see what name our Lord acknowledged as being His. With
that in mind, is there any reason not to use the proper name when you are
making your requests?
Hebrews 13:20-21 Now the God of peace,
that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the
sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, (21) Make you perfect
in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is
wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever
and ever. Amen. (KJV)
We too were like Lazarus at one time,
entombed in the realm of the flesh, and dead to the things of God. Do you
wish to rise up and walk in the perfection or maturity the Lord intended
for you? Then in order to accomplish what will be well pleasing in His
sight, it can only be through Jesus Christ, the only name given that gives
us access to His throne.
Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply
all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (KJV)
Don’t be in denial; if you desire access
to a Spiritual treasure, all the riches in glory, then you need to go
through someone who is glorified and seated in that realm, the one name our
Father opens this treasure for. God gave us His Son, and the only name He
goes by that allows you on the inside. Remember, those that are in
opposition to Him are referred as being antichrist, not antijesus. You have
a name given from above, use it, so that you can stay above and not fall back
into the abyss of the flesh.
