Search And Rescue
John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now
is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in
truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God is a Spirit:
and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (KJV)
When a search and rescue team is sent out
they are looking for those that are in dire need of help. God saw that
mankind was in a burning situation, being lit up and torched with the
flames of hell fanned by the winds of doctrine. Imagine this for a moment,
you are a part of a search and rescue team that enters a burning situation
and finds those that wish to be saved. Our Lord chose to send the best He
had to offer mankind, that being His only begotten Son into a burning
situation here on earth, only to watch many run back into the burning
building they were pulled out of. Could you imagine coming home and finding
your own house on fire, then pulling your own children out only to watch
them run back in? Sound silly and farfetched? Well, spiritually that is
what many do with their salvation; they are saved and walk with the Lord
for a season only to walk back into the hot zone again, thinking they are
now saved by works, that being the works of the law.
1 Corinthians 10:4-6 And did all drink
the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that
followed them: and that Rock was Christ. (5) But with many of them God was
not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. (6) Now these
things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil
things, as they also lusted. (KJV)
Remember that scripture, “many are
called, but few are chosen”? Well, it was the same situation in the Old Testament
also. When Our Lord was seeking His people He found them in bondage in
Egypt, toiling under hard labor. Today when Our Lord is seeking those that
desire to have a relationship with Him, He sees history repeat itself; this
time Egypt is symbolized by the old law, and those that choose to remain
stuck in the hard labor of it, never moving forward. Heck, even after the
children of Israel were set free and provided a way of escape, many
murmured and desired to return back to Egypt, and as we see they were
overthrown in the process.
Philippians 3:3-7 For we are the
circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus,
and have no confidence in the flesh. (4) Though I might also have
confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he
might trust in the flesh, I more: (5) Circumcised the eighth day, of the
stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as
touching the law, a Pharisee; (6) Concerning zeal, persecuting the church;
touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. (7) But what
things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. (KJV)
There wasn’t a more die hard staunch
zealous believer in the old law than a man named Saul, who later was known
as Paul. Who better to give us an accurate account of the difference
between the old and the new form of worship than this man? Yet for all his
zeal and desire, all those old rituals that he thought were pleasing to God
and in the plus column were now being put into the loss column. So what did
this man Paul find in his search for truth, or should I say what did the
Lord find when seeking someone to worship Him in Spirit and in truth?
Philippians 3:8-9 Yea doubtless, and I
count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ
Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do
count them but dung, that I may win Christ, (9) And be found in him, not
having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is
through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: (KJV)
You know, it was after Paul let go of all
this old baggage, all the old law and its dead rituals that he was found in
good standing with God. The question being posed to you today, is your
right standing with God because you go to some river or tank and get dunked
in water thinking it will bring life, or is your right standing with God
based on what His Son did on our behalf? Is your right standing based on
your so called church attendance every Sunday morning, or is it based on
you personally seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness? How
much old flammable hazardous baggage are you still holding to in the form
of laws and rituals?
Galatians 3:23-26 But before faith came,
we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards
be revealed. (24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto
Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (25) But after that faith is
come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. (26) For ye are all the
children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (KJV)
When the Lord arrives at your house today
will you let His search and rescue team douse the flames of fiery darts
with living waters, or will you stay put in a burning situation being
blinded by a smokescreen of doctrines based on the old and not the new way
of escape our Lord provided in the Spirit? The old law was kindergarten,
old school, now it is time to put away childish things if we desire to be
found in good standing with God and the place He intended for us to operate
in His body of believers.
