Just Righteous
Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore take no
thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (32) (For after all these things do the
Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all
these things. (33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (KJV)
When going through the scriptures you
will see words like righteousness, just, or justified, all of which
basically have the same meaning, right standing, innocent, acceptable, to
name a few. God is seeking a relationship with people; that relationship is
now one which is spiritual and based on truth. In return He asks us to seek
first His kingdom which is located in the realm of the Spirit, and it is
what He is asking of us today so that we can stay in good standing with Him
based on what He has done and not on what we think we need to be doing on
His behalf anymore.
Romans 1:16-18 For I am not ashamed of
the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every
one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (17) For
therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is
written, The just shall live by faith. (18) For the wrath of God is
revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men,
who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (KJV)
The true righteousness or our right
standing with God is now apart from the law, an old law where one would put
their faith in outward things and rituals. However, now our faith is in a
completed work that Jesus Christ did on our behalf so that we would no longer
have to be under such a rigid form of belief. Sad to say though, just like
with the children of Israel who had endured slave labor only to be set
free, with many of them God was not pleased because they desired to go back
to the old rather than move forward in a new realm leading to a promised
land. You are either with God, or you are in opposition to His plan of
salvation, which is where many fall away, thinking salvation is based on
their works and not on what really works, that being the work Christ did on
our behalf.
Galatians 3:10-12 For as many as are of
the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is
every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book
of the law to do them. (11) But that no man is justified by the law in the
sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. (12) And
the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
(KJV)
The just or justified in the sight of God
live by faith, that’s it, nothing more. Those that still choose or seek
justification through the law and its works get something else attached to
them, that being the curse of that law that goes with it. God is a spirit,
and His sight or insight is Spiritual; He is now seeking those who will
worship Him in this realm and according to truth. Do you desire to be in
good standing with our Lord; to be justified in His sight? Then it is based
on believing in His Son whom He sent on our behalf who did a complete work,
so that we could be complete in Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:28-31 And base things of
the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things
which are not, to bring to nought things that are: (29) That no flesh
should glory in his presence. (30) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who
of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption: (31) That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let
him glory in the Lord. (KJV)
God didn’t choose you because you were
rich and famous, or because you were some fluent speaker, but rather He
chose those that would rely more on Him and less on themselves and their
own works. Our right standing, our only reason to glory is in Christ, which
is why the enemy is described as antichrist; because by leaving Christ and
His name out of the equation you eliminate the power and the wisdom of God,
and any right standing you may have desired to have in Him.
Romans 10:1-5 Brethren, my heart's desire
and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. (2) For I bear
them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
(3) For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to
establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the
righteousness of God. (4) For Christ is the end of the law for
righteousness to every one that believeth. (5) For Moses describeth the
righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things
shall live by them. (KJV)
Whether it is Israel, or the so called
church of today with all their rituals, the same people get the same dead
end results because they try to establish a relationship with the Lord
based on their own works and not His. Christ put an end to all of the old
law and its rituals; however, if one still chooses to do those things,
well, they have to live with the consequences, which is the curse of that
old law. So where do you stand today; and is your zeal for God based on His
knowledge which is in Christ, or are you following others because it seems
like the thing to do?
