A Strong Resistance

James 4:7-8 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (KJV)

You know, while accessing the things of God and hearing as well as seeing all the Spiritual blessings we have been blessed with as believers in Christ, there will be opposition, the question now becomes, how will you respond? The more you draw near to God and are able to hear His message of deliverance, the more the enemy would like to see you pulled back down to the fallen realm of this world, becoming entangled and bound up in the affairs of this life. You know, in order to get the enemy fleeing and on the run you will need some strong resistance to send him packing. Because one of two things will happen, either he will flee, or you will end up fleeing and chasing after one of his cheap deceptions, which will make you weak and ineffective in the things of God.

1 Peter 5:8-10 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (9) Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (10) But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. (KJV)

How quick and steadfast are you to respond in faith, or do you spend a lot of time analyzing and negotiating the situation, trying to find a shortcut and a path of least resistance? To whom much is given much is expected, so the more you draw near to God expect more resistance from the enemy. Many times in your walk with the Lord you will find that as you leave your comfort zone and grow into a deeper relationship with the Lord, you will suffer for a while learning to adjust. The Spirit is willing to move forward on the path of life, it’s just that sometimes it takes the flesh a while to adjust and come into agreement with the change. However, once we have heard the Lord’s take on where He is taking us in our walk, it brings comfort, makes us perfect (mature), so that we can be established and strengthened in the place He would have us in His body, allowing us to be settled in the newness of life that we are experiencing.

Hebrews 10:22-24 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. (23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (24) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: (KJV)

Are you holding fast to that shield of faith, keeping it up and operational? So, there are a few more fiery darts being launched your direction; well, that is a good thing because it means you are getting closer to the Lord. Don’t let go of that shield of faith, your ability to hear the Word of God and hold more to it than anyone or anything that is of this world. God is faithful, and being the fact that we are now a part of His heavenly family in Christ, would that not mean that we should be faithful as well? So what are you holding to as fact today; that which you can grab hold of in the outward realm, or are you holding tight onto the shield of faith that God has made available to you today?

1 Peter 4:12-14 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: (13) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (14) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. (KJV)

You know, there is a name that the enemy doesn’t enjoy hearing about; a name that gets you access to the throne of God so that you can find out all that He has blessed you with in His realm. After all, this enemy is referred to as a spirit, that being the spirit of antichrist, which folks there are many out there now. God is not the author of confusion but of peace; so don’t think it a strange event when a fiery trial comes in your direction, but rather, be prepared and ready to resist steadfast in faith. You being a follower of Christ and knowing His name, not only has much evil been spoken against Him but it will come in your direction as well; because, you are not only a partaker of the blessings, but with them comes the persecution as well. So Church, don’t be surprised or confused, but rather be prepared to offer up strong resistance so that when the trial starts you can extinguish the darts with living waters, and not allow it to spread through your temple. Take comfort in the fact that knowing the name of Christ, the Spirit of glory and of God is on your side to provide a shield of protection and a strong resistance to send the enemy fleeing again. God bless and hold fast to what is rightfully yours.
