A Mighty Fortress

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (4) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (KJV)

Ever see these so called reality shows where they get the people together that have differing views, then watch them engage in endless warfare, pointing the finger at each other and warring in the realm of the flesh, where in the end no one wins?

Strong’s definition for ‘mighty’:

1415  dunatos (doo-nat-os'); from 1410; powerful or capable (literally or figuratively); neuter possible: KJV-- able, could, (that is) mighty (man), possible, power, strong.

You know, Church, you have access to something that is quite powerful, mighty and more than able to keep you protected from the wiles of the enemy. With this in mind, hopefully the mind of Christ, have you taken hold of all that is available to you as Christian; you know, the ones that are victorious; you know, the ones that are more than conquerors through Him that loved us? Keep in mind, these weapons that we have access too are not offensive ones, but rather they are for our protection; after all, the enemy is already defeated, now it’s just a matter of you seeing it for yourself. That is why we as Christians should not be engaging in carnal warfare, wrestling with flesh and blood.

Romans 12:2-3 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (3) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. (KJV)

God has dealt, or distributed to every man the measure of faith. Being that God is no respecter of people He doesn’t play favorites; another way of perceiving this verse is that God has provided everyone a shield, a Spiritual shield to protect them from all the fiery darts of the wicked one. But alas, how so few take advantage of all that our Father provided for us through Christ; and many reject what was freely given and take hold of and embrace the lies of the wicked one.

John 1:10-12 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. (11) He came unto his own, and his own received him not. (12) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV)

The power of God, it is available to any and all that would call upon the name of the Lord. You have access to power, love, and a renewed sound mind so that you no longer have to be taken down by the lies of the wicked one, but walk in the liberty and freedom God intended for His people to walk in. Have you taken the time to receive what is rightfully yours for the taking today, or are you taking direct hits from the enemy in the form of lies and cheap deceptions?

Ephesians 6:16-17 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (KJV)

The gift God gave to mankind is eternal life; it is there for the taking, which means to receive. If you are getting hit with fiery darts, again realizing we are talking in the spiritual realm, it is not because God didn’t do His part to provide the protection for His people, but rather you let your guard down and allowed yourself to be an open target. How would it grieve you if there was a storm blowing through, and you had more than adequate protection for you and your family, only to watch your children run out into the storm and get blown away? As a Christian believer in Christ you have all that is needed to get you from this fallen realm into the eternal one, now it is a matter of utilizing all that God has provided by hearing for yourself how to keep your shield of faith up and operational. Remember people, this shield is not something you are going out and hitting others over the head with, but rather it is there to shield you from all, not just some, of the fiery darts of the wicked one.

Ephesians 6:11-12 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (KJV)

Again Church, the battle is not with those of this fallen realm, but rather there is an enemy that is doing all he can to keep you from accessing all that is available to you in Christ. With all that we have access to today, with a mighty fortress God has provided for His people, is there any reason why you are not standing strong in the Lord and in the power of His might?
