Out Of Sight Out Of Mind

John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (KJV)

There is a big difference between who God chooses and ordains, and those that seek their recognition and approval from man. The key thing to know in your walk with the Lord is that it is only those that endure to the end; similar to those that keep bearing the fruit of the Spirit will be saved, while all others will eventually fall away and be diverted from the path of life. The reason many no longer are bearing the fruit of the Spirit is because rather than let go of their life and way of thinking, they still hang onto their old fallen carnal thoughts and try to incorporate those things into the realm of the Spirit.

Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, (14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (KJV)

I read a statement lately by a person who had fallen into a sin that he knew was not right, and rather than try to lie and cover it up, he decided to come clean. He made the statement that “if I try to lie then the problem stays in front of me; however, if I tell the truth then that thing stays behind me”. Many of us have lived a lie in our past, being influenced by our carnal thinking. However, once we are enlightened to a truth, even something that may not be visible to the outward man but something that our Lord says is not right, once it is dealt with open and honestly before the Lord then it is forgiven and forgotten. The flip side of that is, that if you are still experiencing doubt or fear, even some guilt, then obviously that thing that you are trying to forget, that way of life you know is not right, is staying right in front of you because you haven’t put it in your past.

Hebrews 10:16-17 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; (17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (KJV)

Those things which are behind us and should be remaining there are carnal things that we used to pursue; things we thought would bring peace and contentment in the end only brought more misery and heartache. Now that you know the Lord and are known of Him, the things that you should be asking and seeking for are those that pertain to your Spiritual walk. It is a lot easier to forget those things which are behind us when we actually leave that old way of life and thought pattern behind us, looking and moving forward.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (18) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; (KJV)

You know if you keep digging up dead things, yeah, they are not real pleasant to deal with let alone healthy. Do you truly desire to move forward in your walk? Then forget those things and way of thinking and leave them behind you, dead, died, and buried. It is a lot easier to forget things from our past if we don’t allow history to keep repeating itself over and over again, resulting in sin. Out of sight, does mean out of mind. Walk in the newness of life that our Lord has and it will never get old.
