Watch Out
Deuteronomy 8:11-14 Beware that thou
forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his
judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: (12) Lest when
thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt
therein; (13) And when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver
and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; (14) Then
thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God, which brought thee
forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; (KJV)
Many people come to the Lord in time of
need, and then when they think they are in the clear they take a hike; you
know, like nine out of the ten lepers did who were healed by our Lord? That
same diligence you showed when in your time of need is the same diligence
and mindset you need to keep even when things are going well for you. We as
humans can have a tendency to get a bit prideful at times, taking credit
for things that the Lord did in our walk. You need to be as ready to
respond to the Lord and keep a good balance, even when things are going
well for you and there doesn’t appear to be an immediate need, well at
least not in the outward.
Revelation 3:15-17 I know thy works, that
thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16) So then
because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out
of my mouth. (17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: (KJV)
Ever wonder what lukewarm is? Well, that
would be described as someone who was hot at one time and then allowed
their affection for the Lord to cool off, and think they have it made on
their own. Another accurate description of this would be that pride stuff
which shows up right before the fall again. You know how hot things can get
in the summer, well it all cools down again in the fall, and so do all
those that get out of balance with the Lord.
Isaiah 56:10-11 His watchmen are blind:
they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping,
lying down, loving to slumber. (11) Yea, they are greedy dogs which can
never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all
look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. (KJV)
You know, a watchdog is supposed to bark
and warn the people of an intruder, not fall asleep. Many of God’s watchmen
are asleep spiritually as well, because rather than looking out for the
congregation God has them watching over, they are more concerned with their
own progress and not the peoples. Those that have their Spiritual senses
exercised can easily see those that are out of balance with the Lord by
their endless money pitches and sermons on giving. So when these greedy
dogs try to tell you that gain is godliness, get out of that kennel and get
back to some truth Church.
Acts 8:18-21 And when Simon saw that
through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he
offered them money, (19) Saying, Give me also this power, that on
whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. (20) But Peter said
unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the
gift of God may be purchased with money. (21) Thou hast neither part nor
lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. (KJV)
Just because we have many Simon’s who
literally teach and preach that one can buy their way into the kingdom of
God by their giving, doesn’t make it so. Watch out Church, and don’t be
taken in; because whatsoever is not of faith is in the realm of sin and
unbelief, and is totally out of balance with our Lord.
