Forward Progress
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways
acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)
The Lord’s desire for your life is that
you would let His Spirit lead and guide you to the next life; you know that
one that will last for eternity? What you will find out as you venture on
this path of life is that it totally contradicts the path of this world,
the heavily traveled path by those looking for an easier way. You will find
that the more you are able to hear the Lord and understand His Word, the
clearer this path becomes. You will also find that the more you acknowledge
God, the more He acknowledges you as one of His in return.
Proverbs 28:26 He that trusteth in his
own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. (KJV)
You know, a lot of Christians become
foolish at times in the eyes of the Lord because they begin their walk in
the Spirit and then somewhere along the line they lean back to their own
understanding. When you read your Bible keep in mind that this Word is
written to the Church, God’s people, so when you see those described as
being fools, yeah, like it or not it does refer to us.
1 Timothy 6:3-5 If any man teach
otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord
Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; (4) He
is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words,
whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, (5) Perverse
disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing
that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (KJV)
Hundred fold returns, prosperity
messages, all this other nonsense we see being peddled around today in the
so called church; well, foolish to say the least and not the wisdom that
came from above either. All this stuff is just childish, carnal things for
man to lean on rather than trusting in the Lord that He is the source, the
only source of life. Rather than sitting there and listening to all this
nonsense you should be withdrawing your support instead of giving your
approval to it.
1 Timothy 6:6-8 But godliness with
contentment is great gain. (7) For we brought nothing into this world, and
it is certain we can carry nothing out. (8) And having food and raiment let
us be therewith content. (KJV)
I thought the Lord would only approve of
my life if I start a church, or if I gave all my money to one; that’s what
they keep telling us. The simple truth is that the Lord said that if you
are able to acknowledge the food and raiment that He provided for you this
day, then that alone would be considered great gain and forward progress in
your walk. Hey, here’s a thought, what if I only took thought for today and
did not take thought for tomorrow, what would the Lord think of my life?
Well, according to His Word, great.
