Clean And Sober

John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. (KJV)

For those that have experienced addictions, in order to get past them and move on one has to get detoxified, getting all the old out in order to allow the new in. Sometimes this process is referred to as withdrawals, where the body has a hard time letting go of the old, something it has been accustomed to in the past.

Hebrews 6:1-2 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (KJV)

Williams New Testament translation of Hebrews 6:1-2

1. So then let us once for all quit the elementary teaching about Christ and continue progressing toward maturity; let us stop relaying a foundation of repentance from works that mean only death and of faith in God, 2. of teaching about ceremonial washings and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead and final judgment.

If one goes back to the end of chapter 5 in Hebrews the writer makes reference to those that should be teachers, but instead must be re-taught all over again. As we see leading into chapter 6, a sure sign of those immature people are the ones that keep holding to the outward or first principles of Christ and not to the inward. Our Lord came to fulfill the old law and then show us how the new law of faith would operate, one that is located in the Spiritual realm. Talk about a nasty old habitual drug; yeah, those carnal ordinances and washings, baptisms that so many still hang onto rather than partaking of the new one our Lord intended for His people.

2 Corinthians 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. (KJV)

You know, like with a drug addict you don’t keep feeding them the old stuff, but rather you get rid of it and teach them a new way of life. For many, the outward ways of life is like a drug as well, because many think that they will find peace and contentment in that realm and miss the true cleansing of the internal one. People, let go of all the outward nonsense and get into the inward way of life our Lord intended for you to operate in.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; (26) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, (27) That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (KJV)

You know, there is only one type of water that can cleanse us in the sight of the Lord, and it has nothing to do with the outward realm. The more you stay likeminded with those that operate in this realm the more you will be on the outward and not involved in the inward cleansing that our Lord gives credence to.

1Thessalonians 5:5-6 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (6) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. (KJV)

Now that you have been awakened and cleansed, don’t fall back into the old and fall asleep at the wheel; rather, continue in the light of the glorious gospel of Christ which is shining and leading you to the realm of the Spirit by ignoring the dead end rituals of the old law. Stay away from all those intoxicating watered down doctrines of man and get into the living waters which will bring life to the inward man. God bless.
