Balancing Act
Malachi 3:10-11 Bring ye all the tithes
into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of
heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to
receive it. (11) And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he
shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast
her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. (KJV)
When you committed your life to the Lord
you committed every part of it to Him, your time, talent, and treasure as
well. Finding the right balance in your walk will keep your heart in good
standing with the Lord, and every day will be a new day for you to walk in
a new realm. Now I know that you have been pummeled with messages about
tithing and how so many put so much emphasis on the money aspect of it.
However, you need to keep in mind your time and talent as well, letting the
Lord manage every part of your being. Keep in mind also that you are the
storehouse; and the meat and fruit that should be in our house is now spiritual
in nature so that you can partake of the divine nature.
Proverbs 16:11 A just weight and balance
are the LORD's: all the weights of the bag are his work. (KJV)
All of our lives, living in a fallen
world, we are surrounded with fallen messages of what man says will bring
peace and contentment, and not what the Lord is speaking. How about the way
people view themselves, are they looking to please man or God? There is a
big difference between what man says is healthy, and when the Lord says you
are in good health, which is not based just on outward appearance. Do you
know the difference for yourself; are you able to rightly divide the word
of truth so that you can stay in the realm of the Spirit and not get caught
up in the extremes of mankind?
Philippians 4:11-13 Not that I speak in
respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to
be content. (12) I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:
every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be
hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. (13) I can do all things through
Christ which strengtheneth me. (KJV)
Oh I think I will work overtime and
Saturdays to make up for the shortfall. Hey, hold on there, maybe the
shortfall is actually Spiritual, not spending enough time in the word of
God to find that proper balance that keeps you in good standing in His
realm. The devil would like nothing better than the see God’s own people
who were at one time set free entrapped again, and all caught up in the rat
race of this world and not learning how to be content with what the Lord
provides on a daily basis. Tithes are not just about money people, but it
involves your time and talent also, utilizing every part of your being,
spirit, soul, and body. Keep in mind the word ‘content’ means to be
independent of external circumstances.
Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as
they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman
named Martha received him into her house. (39) And she had a sister called
Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. (40) But Martha
was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou
not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that
she help me. (41) And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha,
thou art careful and troubled about many things: (42) But one thing is
needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away
from her. (KJV)
Now that the Lord has come to your house
and is knocking on the door of your heart, which category would best
describe your walk? Would you be the one that took the time to hear the
Lord’s Word, or are you running around trying to work your way into heaven,
getting frustrated and out of balance?
