A Time To Every Purpose
Ecclesiastes 3:1 To every thing there is
a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (KJV)
You know, a farmer, or should I say a
good farmer, does not plant their crops in the winter because it wouldn’t
take root and grow would it? You have a Spiritual garden, as well as each
and every one of us who are in Christ, that needs to be attended to so that
it can bring forth and bear the fruit of the Spirit. Not taking the time to
hear the Lord on a daily basis, knowing what He is asking of you this day,
will throw things out of balance; so what could have been something much
easier and simpler will have to be redone all over again, and probably
after some mumbling and grumbling, or kicking oneself for not listening in
the first place.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 Charge them that are
rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain
riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; (18)
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute,
willing to communicate; (19) Laying up in store for themselves a good
foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal
life. (KJV)
A Christian doesn’t have to be a total
fuddy duddy; our Father has given us richly all things to enjoy here on
planet earth. However, many miss the simple things in life because they are
always looking for something bigger and better. Yes we are here to serve
the Lord and to do His work, but there is also a time to get away and
recreate as well. Now some people think that planet earth is just a big
playground, where all they think they are here for is to be entertained. On
the other hand, some just think they have to be working 24/7, 365 days a
year. The reason we are able to enjoy all things richly is because we can
do it with contentment, letting the Lord bless us the way He sees fit, and
not always thinking things would be so much more enjoyable if we could just
have more.
Colossians 3:15-16 And let the peace of
God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and
be ye thankful. (16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all
wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (KJV)
By letting the peace of God rule, you then
know that it is His Spirit that is leading and guiding you and not your own
carnal desires which will cause your walk to get out of balance. Mankind
has limited themselves in thinking that the riches of this world will
accomplish and bring peace to their lives, when the reality is that only
the word of Christ and the riches of His wisdom will bring any peace and
balance in your walk. By letting the Lord have His way you will never come
up short in any area of your walk; time, talent, or treasure wise.
Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to
them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their
senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (KJV)
In everything you do it’s learning the
difference between what man says is healthy and where the Lord would have
you operate, in His time and the way He sees fit. Look around and you see
we are surrounded in a fallen world by fallen people who have their lives
out of balance, leaning more to the carnal realm and ignoring their Spiritual
senses. There is a proper time for every purpose, so by exercising your Spiritual
senses you will be able to discern and know for yourself when, where, and
how the Lord would have you walk today.
