A Real Eyesore
Proverbs 3:5-7 Trust in the LORD with all
thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways
acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (7) Be not wise in thine
own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. (KJV)
Ever go past someone’s house and all you
see is a bunch of junk stored up around their house? Things that people
thought they had to have are sitting around and rusting out while they are out
chasing other junk that they think they can’t live without. There are laws
and ordinances concerning these things that are sometimes referred to as
eyesores, and for those whose property is too cluttered they are enforced,
and the owner is told to clean up their act.
Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe unto them that call
evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for
darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (21) Woe unto
them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! (KJV)
Hey wasn’t this your life before you came
to know the Lord, spiritually your house was a cluttered mess and an
eyesore in His sight? Why oh why do so many still try to take things that
our Lord says are unnecessary and of no value to their new life in the
Spirit and think that they can carry it over into this new life? It is just
bizarre to say the least. When you start to become wise in your own sight
and think that you have things figured out according to the outward sight,
that is when you need to open your eyes of understanding again because you
are about to fall if it is not dealt with.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20 Let no man deceive
himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him
become a fool, that he may be wise. (19) For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own
craftiness. (20) And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that
they are vain. (KJV)
How are you going to grow and mature in
the sight of God? Well, one of the first things that you will realize is
how foolish and limited your own thinking is. In the course of a day you
will have many thoughts and ideas that run through your mind, it is now up
to you to find out which one is of the Lord and which is of your own
thinking. Because in the end, whatsoever is not of faith or not of the Lord
is sin, and would be put in the vain useless column.
Matthew 6:21-23 For where your treasure
is, there will your heart be also. (22) The light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. (23)
But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that
darkness! (KJV)
You know, if you can single your affection
and vision down to One, then you will find it to be an eye opening
experience to say the least. If however, your vision becomes double then it
gets blurry and you have entered the realm of confusion, which is not of
the Lord. So when our Lord looks your way today what kind of shape will
your house be in? Hopefully not a junkyard cluttered with a bunch of
useless stuff that is more of an eyesore than something pleasant in His
sight.
