Role Model
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore
henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ
after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
In these last days our Lord spoke about
and warned us that things would get worse and worse, people deceiving and
being deceived, many of society’s problems are traced back to role models,
someone they patterned their lives after. For many of our youth today they
don’t have a positive role model for parents, or in most cases missing
ones, who were there for the conception but no shows for the reception.
Many of God’s people get deceived also because of a lack of a real role
model Spiritually; many are still pointing people to other people rather
than looking to the right hand of God for a perfect role model to pattern their
lives after. So who are you looking to today to model your life after, a
fallen mankind who can only provide a temporal answer, or are you truly
looking above to find the only answer that will provide a Spiritual
solution?
Hebrews 2:14-15 Forasmuch then as the
children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took
part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the
power of death, that is, the devil; (15) And deliver them who through fear
of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (KJV)
You know, if you were to go into the
rooms of many of today’s youth, you will find posters on their walls of
people that they look up, those who have been successful in whatever talent
they have displayed, whether in sports or music. You won’t find posters of
people that are unknown or were unsuccessful, but rather those that were
winners who were able to accomplish goals they set out to accomplish. Well
our God didn’t send us a loser, someone that didn’t get the job done, but
rather sent us His only Son so that we would have someone to look up to and
pattern our lives after. Keep in mind that we should no longer be looking
at the Lord after the flesh or carnal way of thinking, but rather we need
to see a new portrait of Him based on our Spiritual understanding so that
we can see who we are in Christ.
Hebrews 2:16-18 For verily he took not on
him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. (17) Wherefore
in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he
might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,
to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. (18) For in that he
himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are
tempted. (KJV)
Stop for a moment and think back on your
own lives, how many people have come and gone, even people you looked up to
and considered role models. How has your opinion toward them changed over
the years, and how has their opinion of you changed as well? Mankind keeps
trying to put mankind on pedestals and make them out to be something they
are not, the Savior. In essence, many end up worshipping and putting more
faith in the creature rather than in the Creator. So when their idols or
role models end up falling, many times they end up falling also. With all
that we have available in Christ, a perfect example of how to walk in the
Spirit and live a life without sin, why would you look anywhere else but
above to find the answer? It’s only those that are in Christ, who look to
Him and give ear to His doctrine, that are able to be a new creation, old
things are truly passed away and all things now become new because of your
faith in Him.
Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high
priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was
in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy,
and find grace to help in time of need. (KJV)
People come and go, in fact the same
people that hailed our Lord as King one week were demanding for his crucifixion
the next week. You will encounter the same thing in your walk at times, the
same people that smile in your face and call you brother one week, will be
stabbing you in the back the next one as well. So in a time of need, the
more you learn to go boldly to the throne of grace through Jesus Christ our
Lord, the more you will find the peace and comfort you were seeking. You
have access anytime, anywhere, to a man that has been here and done that,
yet never entered the realm of sin (unbelief), but was confident in the
fact that what God was asking of Him (He that was greater within Him) was
able to accomplish. Are you boldly accessing this throne of grace to find
out who you are in Christ today, or are you timidly looking elsewhere
settling for something or someone far inferior for counsel? And what are
you going to do when those people that are here today, those that promised
they would never leave or forsake you, take a hike and go the opposite
direction?
Hebrews 13:5-9 Let your conversation be
without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may
boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do
unto me. (7) Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken
unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their
conversation. (8) Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for
ever. (9) Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is
a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats,
which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. (KJV)
The doctrine of Christ is what got Jesus
of Nazareth home and to His intended destination. This same doctrine of
Christ is available to you also if you are willing to look above and not focus
on the things below to find true peace and contentment. Do you desire
boldness in your walk today? Well, why not go to a bold realm to find this
assurance and confidence, a faith with substance that will get you home as
well. Are you looking for a true role model in your life? Then look no
further than Jesus Christ and you will find one. God bless and don’t settle
for less.
