Cast Off
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (7) Casting
all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV)
The Bible says that the Lord raised us up
and has given us access to a new life in Christ so that we could rise from
this dead end realm of the flesh and abide in a new heavenly realm with
Christ. We all sin (which sin in its simplest form is unbelief) and fall,
which means that we need to rise up again in order to walk with the Lord.
Pride comes before our fall, many times in the form of cares or
distractions that we allow into our temples, things that we said were the
Lord’s are things that we take back, burdens that we think we can fix and
repair better than our Lord. Thump; that sound you just heard was our fall
from grace, no longer trusting in the Lord with all our heart, but rather
leaning back to our own understanding, which is what caused the fall. Humility is when we actually cast our
cares upon the Lord again, only this time we leave them with Him, letting
Him do the caring for us.
Romans 13:12-14 The night is far spent,
the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and
let us put on the armour of light. (13) Let us walk honestly, as in the
day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not
in strife and envying. (14) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make
not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. (KJV)
One of the lusts of our flesh at times is
our impatience, our desire to see the answer manifest in the time and
fashion that we decided it needed to take place. When one starts taking
thought for things beyond today one is walking in a dark realm, a realm that
our Lord will not be found in, one of darkness and despair. The Son has
risen today and is shining His light on the path that we need to be walking,
today, right now. Anytime we start thinking beyond today we enter a realm
of doubt and confusion, one where the peace of God is not and cannot be
found in.
Proverbs 27:19-20 As in water face
answereth to face, so the heart of man to man. (20) Hell and destruction
are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. (KJV)
You know, when you look to the carnal
realm to find the answer, no matter how many times you look you get the
same results; like looking into the water, the same reflection keeps
looking back your way. Looking at your bank account or anything else in the
carnal realm that you think will bring peace will only bring about the same
results, unfulfilled and leaving one empty. No matter how many times you
look to this fallen realm and think you will find peace, in the end it will
be the same picture staring back your way, one with a frown and not with an
answer.
Ecclesiastes 4:6-8 Better is an handful
with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of
spirit. (7) Then I returned, and I saw vanity under the sun. (8) There is
one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor
brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye
satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave
my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail. (KJV)
You as a Christian should know better than
to look to the cesspools of this fallen realm to find peace, but rather
start looking into the living waters and partake of it to find contentment.
The cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusting of other
things that are of this world and not the things above will choke the Word
and you will end up back in the dark realm you were once delivered from. So
where are you truly looking today; and what realm are you finding peace and
contentment in; because whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be
without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he
hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (6) So that we may
boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do
unto me. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘boldly’:
2292
tharrheo (thar-hreh'-o); another form for 2293; to exercise courage:
KJV-- be bold, X boldly, have confidence, be confident. Compare 5111.
You know, the more you exercise the
stronger you get. The more you learn to exercise your Spiritual senses,
relying more on the inward vision and less on the outward, the more it
yields and brings forth the peaceable fruit of righteousness. The more you
let the Lord do the caring, the stronger you are in the Lord and the power
of His might. The more you decrease and get out of the way, the more of His
influence will increase in your walk and eliminate a bunch of needless
doubts and fears that you are being harassed with. In conclusion today, if
God be for us then who could possibly be against us?
