A Secret Comfort
Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest,
enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father
which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee
openly. (KJV)
You know, the reason that God sent His
Son to die on our behalf is so that we could be reconciled to God and find
comfort in time of need. Thus why we are instructed in how to pray and how
to access a God who is in secret, well at least to the eyes of man, but ready
to reward His people with His love which casts out all fear. If you are
still living in fear then you have not been made perfect in love, or I
should say, been made aware of the
love of God which brings comfort to the heart and eliminates any doubts and
fears of our lower natures.
John 14:16-17 And I will pray the Father,
and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for
ever; (17) Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because
it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth
with you, and shall be in you. (KJV)
The Lord Himself said that the kingdom of
God does not come by observation, meaning the answer and comfort you are
seeking will not be found in the outward realm, but would be found in the
inward one. The reason the world misses this and cannot receive this is
because they keep looking to something or in many cases someone else to
bring this comfort, not the true comfort that will set them free. This
Spirit of truth is given for us to access, to know who and what is dwelling
within us; because greater is He that is within us than anything or anyone
in this world. So Church, if you desire to find true comfort, if you desire
to know the secret hidden realm of the Lord, then seek it first within and
you won’t be without.
2 Corinthians 4:1-2 Therefore seeing we
have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; (2) But have
renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor
handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth
commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. (KJV)
Thayer’s definition for ‘hidden’:
2927
kruptos or kruphaios- hidden, concealed, secret
In order to find true comfort you’re
going to have to let go of those secret things that you thought would bring
comfort to the heart. There are things that may not be apparent to the
outward man, but inwardly there needs to be some house cleaning; you know like
that messy closet you have been storing some junk in? Or that spiritual rug
you have been picking up and sweeping stuff under when you think no one is
looking? Well it’s these hidden things, stuff you try to keep secret, is
what will keep you separated from God unless you come clean and deal with
these matters personally. Oh and don’t try to play dumb with God, because
He will definitely let you know what they are and how to overcome them if
you are truly desiring to walk His path of life comfortably.
Romans 13:10-12 Love worketh no ill to
his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. (11) And that,
knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now
is our salvation nearer than when we believed. (12) The night is far spent,
the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and
let us put on the armour of light. (KJV)
Have you ever dealt with a situation and
you left scratching your head, you left with an ill in your spirit,
something that should have been uplifting left you more in confusion than
peace. That’s because there are people out and about who claim to be of God
who should be delivering a message of hope and deliverance to His people who
are carrying around a lot of baggage instead of casting off the works of
darkness, and they end up shedding more dark than light on situations. It’s
up to you personally to rightly divide the word of truth, to exercise your Spiritual
senses so that you know the difference between what is good and evil for
yourself. We as God’s people, His messengers, are here to deliver a clear
message of deliverance, free from any darkness or shadow of turning, not
only in our talk but especially in our walk.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given
by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness: (17) That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works. (KJV)
All scripture, whatever form it comes in,
whether it is well done good and faithful servant, or it comes in the form
of correction, is there for our profit and benefit so that we can be
perfect, mature in Christ. Remember, it is a perfect love and commitment to
our Lord that will cast out all fear, as well as all works of darkness, and
bring the comfort and peace to our heart. You have been furnished and
equipped for all good works so that you will no longer have to give account
or dread the works of darkness you once operated in according to your
carnal mind. So unless one takes the time to hear the Lord on a daily basis
they will not be able to do their spiritual inventory check and know that
they are still in good standing with our Lord.
Hebrews 12:5-7 And ye have forgotten the
exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not
thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: (6)
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he
receiveth. (7) If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons;
for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘chastening’:
3809
paideia (pahee-di'-ah); from 3811; tutorage, i.e. education or
training; by implication, disciplinary correction: KJV-- chastening,
chastisement, instruction, nurture.
Don’t get so bummed out or think the worst
when our Lord brings His correction your way, but rather keep in mind that it
is because He loves you, and that you are still one of His people. This whole
new life, this new found realm you are operating in is so much higher and
deeper than anything you could have ever found in your fallen state. So
when the Lord is training or reeducating us, it is so that we can continue
partaking of the peaceable fruit of righteousness which is in Christ, and
the comfort that is available to all those that continue to follow His
path. God bless and stay comforted in the fact that in all things we are
more than conquerors through Him that loves us.
