A Disciple In Deed
1 Timothy 6:1-2 Let as many servants as
are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the
name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. (2) And they that have
believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren;
but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved,
partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. (KJV)
When you see the words servants and
masters, translate that now into employee, and employer. In other words, a
lot of what happens outside the confines of your religious organizations
speaks volumes of what is really taking place within them on Sundays.
Though many worship or claim to be worshipping our Lord by dancing to the
music and holding their hands up in a trance, what takes place after the
song and dance says more about a person than anything else.
Ephesians 6:5-8 Servants, be obedient to
them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling,
in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; (6) Not with eyeservice, as
menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the
heart; (7) With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: (8)
Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive
of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. (KJV)
Ask yourself honestly, what are your real
motives, today focusing on the workplace? You can make all the claims you
want about how you are a Christian, and do all the so called witnessing you
can at your work place, but nothing will flush your testimony down the
drain quicker than poor work ethic, a half hearted people pleasing one. I
have heard some in the work places that I have been involved in talk about
how someday they desire to be used of the Lord for ministry work, while at
the same time, they are overlooking the work the Lord has right in front of
them now. Even the job you have today, are you doing it to please man, or
should I say the boss man, or do you do your job from the heart to please
our Lord?
Luke 16:10-11 He that is faithful in that
which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least
is unjust also in much. (11) If therefore ye have not been faithful in the
unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? (KJV)
“Oh someday I am going to pastor a
church”, well that is great, but it would be a lot more effective if the
Lord is leading you in that pursuit. Many have a zeal for God but it is not
according to His knowledge, because many times they overlook simple areas
of their walk that the Lord is asking them to be faithful in first. The
Lord is asking His people to be faithful in the workplace they are in now,
then that will prove they will be faithful in His calling as well. It is
amazing how many overlook these simple areas of their walk, thinking the
workplace is no big deal, a trivial matter. Well being faithful in these
things which many consider least is not trivial to our Father in heaven,
but rather a prerequisite before you will be used of Him.
1 Timothy 4:11-12 These things command
and teach. (12) Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the
believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in
purity. (KJV)
No matter where you are sent, no matter
what your calling today is, it would do you well to keep in mind that you
are an example, or should be an example of the believers, not the
deceivers. You may think the job or task you are being asked to accomplish
today is trivial, a waste of time, but I can assure you that unless you
have a change of heart, learning to be faithful in small areas, then God is
not going to call you to be in charge of bigger things, those that pertain
to the eternal realm. Oh I have dealt with people that claimed they were
the praise and worship leaders of their organizations only to have a work
record that was pathetic, and basically flushed their testimony right down
the drain.
Colossians 3:22-25 Servants, obey in all
things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as
menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: (23) And whatsoever
ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (24) Knowing that
of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve
the Lord Christ. (25) But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong
which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. (KJV)
You know, the Lord doesn’t care who you
are, or who or how important you think you are, if your work record and
attitude stinks then it is not something or someone our Lord desires to
have in overseeing His work either. If you are not faithful in these areas
then that attitude you developed will carry over and you will not be faithful
in our Lord’s calling either.
1 Corinthians 1:4-7 I thank my God always
on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; (5)
That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all
knowledge; (6) Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you: (7) So
that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ: (KJV)
You know, you have quite a testimony in
you, and you are a representation of someone that deserves the highest
honor and respect that could ever be given to anyone, not only on this
earth but in heaven as well. The reason many of God’s own people are
lacking and coming behind rather than being the head is because they
overlook small simple areas of their walk and stay stuck in the carnal
quick sand they fell into.
Do you desire to move forward in your
walk, to be a disciple in deed? Then learn to be faithful in everything, no
matter how small or trivial you may think it is.
