A Caring Father
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (7) Casting
all your care upon him; for he careth for you.(KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘care’:
3199
melo (mel'-o); a primary verb; to be of interest to, i.e. to concern
(only third person singular present indicative used impersonally, it
matters): KJV-- (take) care.
Remember what our Lord said concerning
Spirit as opposed to the flesh, that one was willing while the other was
weak? If you notice, our Lord is not asking us to cast our cares upon
something or someone who is weak, but rather the term ‘mighty hand of God’
is used. Do you desire mighty results, something that is strong, like a
firm foundation? Then only by casting your cares in the direction of the
Lord and leaving them there will get those results, while anything else
will leave you doubting and fearful. Notice too that it says ‘in due time’,
which is where many fall short because of their lack of patience. Mankind
has deadlines, things which are attached to a millstone and tied around
their necks. The Lord has provided us a lifeline so that we could stay
attached to the Lord and continue our walk in the Spirit, no longer bogged
down by the cares of this world.
Philippians 4:6-8 Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known unto God. (7) And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (8)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever
things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any
virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. (KJV)
When someone tells you to take care, do
you remind yourself or should I say do you allow the Spirit to remind you
where to take it? How many things should we be careful for? Well, according
to verse 6, absolutely nothing. Now if I was to ask you personally how many
things you have been caring for today, could you honestly say nothing
because you have cast your care upon the Lord in the form of prayer and
supplication? So now you are just waiting and confidently expecting the
results you prayed about, right? Well, if you follow the formula in verses
7 &8 then you will. However, if you allow your mind to drift off in the
form of imaginations, many times taking thought for things beyond today and
things that are more of this realm and not the heavenly one, then that
peace you had in the beginning will be slipping away, and so will you.
Psalms 116:1-2 I love the LORD, because
he hath heard my voice and my supplications. (2) Because he hath inclined
his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. (KJV)
You know, as long as you continue to live
by faith, grounded and settled, not moved away from the hope of the gospel,
then you will know the Lord has heard your prayers and supplications that
you are requesting. A caring Father promised us that He would never leave
us nor forsake us; however, by not thinking and renewing our minds on a
daily basis then we end up forsaking His path of life for a cheap imitation
based on our vision, or I should say lack of Spiritual vision.
Luke 11:9-13 And I say unto you, Ask, and
it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you. (10) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that
seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. (11) If a son
shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone?
or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? (12) Or if he
shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? (13) If ye then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? (KJV)
Our Lord encourages us to ask, and we
have not at times because we ask not. A loving caring Father would like
nothing better than to see His people walk in truth, and receive the gift
of life He provided for us by sending His Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Verse
13 makes reference and uses the term ‘if ye then, being evil, know how to
give good gifts unto your children’, take care and nurture them, then how
much more will our heavenly Father do for us if we allow Him to. In other
words, if a fallen mankind has the mindset to provide for their own, how
much more will the Lord open up and provide for us Spiritually if we ask in
faith nothing wavering? Many give what they think are good gifts for their
children, based more on what they want and not what they need, gifts that
are temporal and not eternal. God gave us the best gift in the universe,
the gift of life which came to us through His Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
the only gift that will last for eternity.
Isaiah 46:10-11 Declaring the end from
the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done,
saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: (11) Calling
a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far
country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have
purposed it, I will also do it. (KJV)
Hey, what a package that is available if
only one would just believe; that simple, and yet that hard if one makes it
that way. Do you know of anyone else that can determine the outcome ahead
of time, every time? Hey, I got one for you, how about someone that can
part a sea and then have it flow back over the enemy? How about someone who
can walk on water, or raise the dead, or cleanse the lepers, or heal the
sick, or supply all of our need, all the time? What a caring Father we
truly have available, if only we will allow Him. With all that is available
from above, quit looking below to find your answer; but take your cares to
the throne and leave them there, and expect great results.
